Work

Working life. You remembered those great times you had? The wonderful colleagues aka watercooler chat buddies, bitching buddies, joke buddies? Something happened and it breaks all of you up. Then you wished for it back.

I asked from God that the next working place I go to, I hoped it'll be a more relaxed environment - and true enough he gave me. I really think my wish has been given. But there were trade offs. My boss is unpredictable, my colleagues are boring and communication between working partners were mostly through emails.

I would think that we humans needs more face-to-face interactions. I really find it stupid for you to send email to ask a simple question when the person is in front of you (unless you are gossiping! hehe). People also pickup the phone to call someone else from across the cubicle. Sigh...

It's so different from the likes of my previous employments. I kindda miss it now. Oh well...

There is a theory on 'management by walking around'. I've forgotten the right name of the theory.... But it goes by telling people (or managers) that we should walk around and listen to the people. Listen to the people, advising them of the directions and clarifying the general directions. It have certainly been useful for me when people see my presence at times (sometime, it's too often).

My advise is to take the initiative and start by managing your colleagues and bosses by 'walking around'. Tell people of your extrovertism and how you would appreciate face-to-face communication. It will probably be refreshing to them when things get done the way the envision it to be.

Take a step forward and see the change in your life. ;-)

Ya.. ive told them. Guess its just been like that for their 11yrs there so small chance of change. Well, at least that small difference has started. My team colleague seems to have started to walk over to my place if she needs to ask about something.

The rest... oh well... see how lor. haha. Fatman words to me when I came into CIS/NHB was "give it at least 6mths before you decide on anything. usually by then you will have known the place and have a group of friends already"

True lah what he says 6mths, but just because we were in between SOE and ACE. I judt had no time to think of leaving! haha... hence I conclude I am a person who likes to be kept significantly busy, not just stupidly busy... like ACE and SOE actually is a big deal to help out in. If not I wouldve been bored and quit by June that year lol.
